Shri Ganga Das Ji Maharaj was born in Vikram Samvat 1771 in Athaura village near Ajitgarh town of Sikar district. His father's name was Manohar Singh who was the Jagirdar here. Mother's name was Magan Kunwari.
He learnt Sangopan Yoga and attained all the siddhis of Ashtang Yoga. Along with this, he became a great Siddha by attaining many siddhis like Anima Siddhi, Mahima Siddhi, Laghima Siddhi, Prapti Siddhi, Prakamya Siddhi, Ishitva Siddhi, Vashita Siddhi, Kamavasayita Siddhi, Door Shravan Siddhi, Manojav Siddhi, Parakaya Pravesh Siddhi etc.
He went to the hills of Jagdishji and did penance for twelve years and achieved his goal. From here he again came to the banks of Gangaji and started doing penance here. Due to the confluence of three streams here, this place became famous as Triveni Dham.
Of these three streams, one stream came from the mountains of Jagdishji, the second from the west and the third stream was revealed by Ganga Das ji himself. It is believed that this water is so holy that all sins are washed away by just touching it.
On the orders of Ganga Das ji, his disciple Janaki Das ji Maharaj built the temple of Lord Narasimha and installed the self-made idol of Lord Narasimha on the day of Vaishakh Sudi Chaturdashi of Vikram Samvat 1814.
Ganga Das ji used to sit on the hill situated on the banks of Triveni and contemplate on the Lord where the footprints of Jagatguru Swami Ramanandacharya ji Maharaj are present.
Seeing his parents worried about the growth of the family, one day he asked his mother to have a second son. Due to his Siddha Vaani, he got a brother who was named Parbat Singh.
After the death of Parbat Singh, his wife came to Gangadasji and asked for life for her husband. Then Gangadasji took samadhi on Kartik Sudi Shashti Vikram Samvat 1840 and gave his life to his younger brother.
