Why is Kolayat Lake famous? It is about Kapil Muni Ashram where his temple is located on the bank of a lake known as Kapil Sarovar in Kolayat Bikaner.
A pond in Kolayat, Bikaner is known as Kapil Sarovar or Kolayat Lake, which is an important pilgrimage site of Hinduism.
Once upon a time, the water of this lake located on the banks of Saraswati River is said to be so sacred that by bathing in it, a man is freed from the bondage of birth and death, that is, he gets salvation.
This place is considered to be the birthplace of Kapil Muni, the fifth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, whose temple still stands on the banks of the lake.
Many ghats have been built in this lake for the devotees to take bath. There are many temples built on the banks of these ghats, the most important of which is the temple of Kapil Muni, which is considered to be more than one and a half thousand years old.
At one place on the ghat, there is a Samadhi under a Peepal tree where the footprints of Kapil Muni are made. It is believed that he left his body at this place.
Kapil Muni is considered to be the founder of Sankhya philosophy. He gave the first knowledge of Sankhya philosophy to his mother Devahuti at this place.
When his mother desired to go on a pilgrimage in her old age, Kapil Muni collected water from all the 68 pilgrimages and four Dhams of India and established this lake and made his mother take a bath in it.
In this way, Kolayat lake was created by Kapil Muni himself so that he could give his mother the fruits of visiting all the pilgrimages and four Dhams together.
बीकानेर के कोलायत में मौजूद एक तालाब को कपिल सरोवर या कोलायत झील के नाम से जाना जाता है जो कि हिन्दू धर्म का एक महत्वपूर्ण तीर्थ स्थल है।
किसी जमाने में सरस्वती नदी के किनारे पर मौजूद इस झील का पानी इतना ज्यादा पवित्र बताया जाता है कि इसमें नहाने से मनुष्य जन्म मृत्यु के बंधन से आजाद हो जाता है यानी उसे मोक्ष मिल जाती है।
यह जगह भगवान विष्णु के पाँचवे अवतार कपिल मुनि का जन्मस्थान मानी जाती है जिनका मंदिर आज भी सरोवर के किनारे पर बना हुआ है।
इस सरोवर में श्रद्धालुओं के स्नान के लिए कई घाट बने हुए हैं। इन घाटों के किनारे पर कई मंदिर बने हुए हैं जिनमें सबसे मुख्य मंदिर कपिल मुनि का है जिसे लगभग डेढ़ हजार साल से भी ज्यादा पुराना माना जाता है।
घाट पर एक जगह पीपल के पेड़ के नीचे एक समाधि बनी हुई है जहाँ पर कपिल मुनि के चरण चिन्ह बने हुए हैं। ऐसा माना जाता है कि इस जगह पर इन्होंने अपना शरीर त्यागा था।
कपिल मुनि को सांख्य दर्शन का जन्मदाता माना जाता है। इन्होंने सांख्य दर्शन का सबसे पहला ज्ञान अपनी माता देवहूति को इसी जगह पर दिया था।
बुढ़ापे में जब इनकी माता को तीर्थयात्रा करने की इच्छा हुई तो कपिल मुनि ने भारत के सभी 68 तीर्थ और चार धामों के जल को इकठ्ठा करके इस सरोवर की स्थापना करके अपनी माता को इसमें स्नान करवाया।
इस तरह कोलायत झील की उत्पत्ति खुद कपिल मुनि ने की थी ताकि वो अपनी माता को सभी तीर्थ और चारों धामों की यात्रा का फल एक साथ दिला सकें।
